A Member Society of NADFAS

Joining the Sutton Coldfield Decorative & Fine Arts Society (SCDFAS) will bring you together with some 200 members from many different walks of life who share a common interest in learning more about “The Arts” in a friendly and convivial atmosphere.

Superb monthly lectures by some of the nations best experts, chosen for their knowledge, presentational skills and entertainment value, cover a wide range of topics including all painting genre, literature, jewellery, music, ceramics, garden design, architecture and the culture and lifestyles. Special Interest Days enable specific topics are explored in greater depth. Lectures are supplemented by visits to exhibitions, galleries, museums, churches, gardens and other places of artistic, and cultural, architectural and historic interest.

For members interested in preserving local or national heritage, it is possible to organise Heritage Volunteer and Church Recording projects, with teams working together to meticulously record, document and preserve the fabric, architectural detail, furnishings and records of churches, historic houses and businesses that have contributed to our heritage.

Our “Young Arts” programme encourages young people to take a greater interest in the arts, and every year we work together with a local school to enable the pupils, under the guidance of their teachers, to undertake projects that would not otherwise be funded.

Members receive the society’s beautifully illustrated quarterly magazine NADFAS Review, containing stunning articles on the arts from some of the top names in the arts world, as well as details of offers and concessions available upon production of your NADFAS membership card.
All SC-DFAS members also become members of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts (NADFAS), with some 90,000 members nationwide and resources to provide local groups with advice, organisational skills and training, and to review, vet and select the best lectures for inclusion in their directory of speakers.

We do not have a waiting list, and applications are welcome from Sutton and all surrounding districts. To find out more about the exciting opportunities that SCDFAS membership offers, contact our membership secretary, Zena Trowman, on membership@suttoncoldfielddfas.org.uk. Ph: 01213533254.
